Expert Botox® Injections in Baton Rouge & Prairieville, Louisiana

Dr. Z is ranked in the Top 3% of Physician Injectors Nationally as a recognized Expert Injector™

If you've been thinking about Botox in Baton Rouge, you're not alone — it's the most requested treatment at Z Aesthetic Dermatology, and the results speak for themselves. A 15-minute Botox appointment with Dr. Z can smooth your forehead lines, relax those 11s between your brows, and soften crow's feet — with results that look completely natural, not overdone.

Dr. Ann Zedlitz is a board-certified dermatologist and nationally recognized Top 3% Expert Injector™. That's not a med spa title — it's a credential earned through thousands of procedures and a deep understanding of facial anatomy that most injectors simply don't have. When you sit down with Dr. Z and her team of injectors, you're getting experts who can see your face the way an artist and a scientist would.

Z Aesthetic Dermatology sees patients from Baton Rouge, Prairieville, Gonzales, and across South Louisiana who want Botox done right — natural results, personalized dosing, and a provider who actually listens to what you want.

What is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is the original FDA-approved botulinum toxin neuromodulator — developed by Allergan (now AbbVie) and first approved for cosmetic use in 2002. It temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles: the lines formed by repeated expressions like frowning, squinting, and raising your eyebrows.

  • FDA-approved for glabellar lines (11s), forehead lines, and crow's feet
  • Broadest cosmetic approval of any neuromodulator on the market
  • Over two decades of cosmetic use with millions of treatments performed worldwide
  • Also approved for multiple therapeutic uses, including migraines and hyperhidrosis
  • The benchmark against which all other neuromodulators are measured

With the most extensive real-world safety and efficacy record of any injectable neuromodulator, Botox remains the gold standard in aesthetic medicine.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that tell your facial muscles to contract. When the targeted muscles can't contract, they relax; and the skin above them smooths out. The result is gradual and natural-looking: your face retains full expression while the treated wrinkles soften significantly.

  • Injected directly into the target muscle using a fine needle
  • Results begin appearing in 3–5 days and peak at 2 weeks
  • Effects last 3–4 months on average, longer with consistent treatments
  • Treats dynamic wrinkles (movement-caused lines), not static wrinkles
  • Precise dosing by Dr. Z ensures natural results — never frozen or overdone

When administered by an expert injector like Dr. Z, Botox delivers natural, effective, beautifully balanced results — every time.

What Areas Can Botox Treat?

Botox is FDA-approved for three cosmetic areas: glabellar lines (11s), forehead lines, and crow’s feet, giving it the broadest cosmetic approval of any neuromodulator. Beyond those three, Dr. Z uses Botox for a range of advanced off-label treatments that many local providers don’t offer.

  • 11 Lines Botox

11 lines Botox glabellar treatment gold standard Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana

Botox is FDA-approved specifically for glabellar frown lines — the vertical "11 lines" between your eyebrows caused by repeated contraction of the corrugator and procerus muscles. As the most studied neuromodulator in the world with over 20 years of FDA-approved cosmetic use, Botox has the most extensive clinical data for frown line treatment of any neuromodulator. Over time these lines become etched into the skin even at rest, creating a tired, angry, or stressed appearance — Botox relaxes the underlying muscles to smooth the lines and prevent them from deepening further.

Learn more about 11 lines treatment and how neuromodulator treatment from Z Dermatology can smooth this common concern.

  • Botox for Forehead Lines

Botox forehead line treatment FDA approved horizontal wrinkle reduction Baton Rouge Louisiana

Horizontal forehead lines are one of Botox's three FDA-approved cosmetic indications — making it one of the most clinically validated forehead wrinkle treatments available. These lines form from years of frontalis muscle activity when raising your eyebrows, and Botox smooths them by precisely relaxing the frontalis while preserving natural brow movement and expression. For patients new to neuromodulators, forehead lines are one of the most popular starting points — delivering visible, natural-looking smoothing with no downtime.

  • Botox for Crow's Feet

Botox crows feet lateral eye wrinkle FDA approved treatment Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana

Crow's feet — the fan-shaped lines that radiate from the outer corners of your eyes when you smile or squint — are one of Botox's three primary FDA-approved cosmetic indications. Precise injections into the orbicularis oculi muscle soften active expression lines and prevent progressive deepening over time. Botox crow's feet treatment is one of the most popular combination treatments alongside frown lines and forehead, allowing patients to address the entire upper face in a single 10–15 minute appointment.

  • Botox Brow Lift

Botox non-surgical brow lift treatment Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana Z Aesthetic Dermatology

A strategic Botox brow lift uses precise micro-injections to relax the depressor muscles — particularly the orbicularis oculi and corrugator — that pull the brows downward, allowing the frontalis to lift the brow tail and open the eye area without surgery. The result is a subtle but meaningful elevation that creates a more rested, refreshed, and youthful appearance. As the most studied neuromodulator for brow lifting technique, Botox provides predictable, consistent results that Dr. Z has refined through thousands of procedures.

  • Botox for Nefertiti Neck Lift

Botox Nefertiti lift neck band platysma jawline treatment Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana

Strategic Botox injections along the platysmal bands of the neck and jawline create the Nefertiti lift effect — improving jaw definition, softening vertical neck cords, and subtly tightening the lower face for a more sculpted, youthful profile. Botox is the most established neuromodulator for platysmal band treatment, with well-documented dosing protocols developed through decades of clinical use. This treatment is particularly popular for patients in their 40s and 50s who are beginning to notice jawline softening and vertical neck banding as early signs of facial aging.

    Nefertiti Neck Lift

  • Botox for Jaw Slimming (Masseter Reduction)

Botox masseter jaw slimming bruxism TMJ reduction treatment Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana

Injecting Botox into the masseter muscles gradually reduces their bulk over multiple treatment cycles, creating a slimmer, more refined oval facial contour for patients with a wide or square lower face. Botox masseter treatment also provides meaningful therapeutic relief from teeth grinding (bruxism) and chronic jaw tension or TMJ-related discomfort — making it both a cosmetic and functional treatment. As the most established neuromodulator for masseter reduction with the most extensive clinical evidence, Botox is the gold standard for this indication. Results develop over 4–6 weeks as the muscle atrophies and last 4–6 months.

  • Botox for Excessive Sweating

Botox hyperhidrosis excessive underarm sweating FDA approved treatment Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana

Botox is FDA-approved for the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis — excessive underarm sweating that is not adequately controlled by topical treatments. Unlike cosmetic Botox treatments that last 3–4 months, Botox for hyperhidrosis provides relief for 6–12 months — significantly longer than standard neuromodulator results — by blocking the acetylcholine nerve signals that activate sweat glands in the treated area. As the only neuromodulator with FDA approval for hyperhidrosis, Botox is the medically validated, clinically proven choice for patients whose quality of life is significantly affected by excessive sweating.

  • Botox Lip Flip

Botox lip flip gummy smile upper lip treatment Baton Rouge and Prairieville Louisiana

A small amount of Botox placed along the upper lip border relaxes the orbicularis oris muscle, gently rolling the lip outward for a fuller, more defined appearance without adding volume. The Botox lip flip is the original and most established neuromodulator technique for lip enhancement — delivering subtle definition that complements natural lip shape. It is a popular choice for patients who want more visible upper lip without committing to dermal filler, and can also be combined with Restylane Kysse for comprehensive lip enhancement

  • Botox for Bunny Lines

Botox bunny lines nose bridge wrinkle nasalis treatment Baton Rouge Louisiana

The diagonal wrinkles that appear across the bridge of the nose when you scrunch your face or laugh are caused by the nasalis muscle and are easily softened with precise, low-dose Botox injections. Bunny lines are one of the most common add-on treatments alongside frown line and forehead appointments — they often become more noticeable after frown line treatment as the surrounding muscles compensate for the relaxed corrugators. A small number of units addresses this concern effectively with results lasting 3–4 months.

What Does a Botox Appointment at Z Dermatology Actually Feel Like?

1.

The Consultation

Your appointment starts with a brief consultation. Dr. Z will look at your face, ask what’s bothering you, and talk through your goals. She’ll identify the specific muscles behind your concerns and explain exactly what she recommends — with honest expectations about results. If Botox isn’t the right tool for what you’re seeing, she’ll tell you that too.

2.

The Injections

Using an ultra-fine needle, Dr. Z targets each muscle with precision developed through thousands of procedures. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch — similar to a tiny mosquito bite.  Topical numbing cream is available if you’d like it, though most patients don’t need it.

3.

After Your Appointment

There’s no downtime. Most patients go straight back to work, errands, or social plans immediately after.  The entire appointment — consultation, treatment, and aftercare instructions — takes 15 minutes or less.

4.

Botox Results Timeline

  • Day 1–2: No visible change yet. Completely normal.
  • Day 3–5: You’ll start to notice the muscles relaxing and lines softening.
  • Day 7–14: Full results are visible. This is what your results will look like.
  • Month 3–4: Results begin to fade — time to schedule your maintenance appointment.

Botox for 11 Lines: Baton Rouge's Most Requested Treatment

The “11 lines” — also called frown lines or glabellar lines — are the two vertical creases that form between your eyebrows when you squint, concentrate, or frown. They get their name from looking like the number 11.

Over time, these lines go from appearing only during expressions to being visible all the time, even when your face is completely relaxed. That’s when patients come in saying they look angry, stressed, or unapproachable — even when they’re in a perfectly good mood. The 11 lines are responsible for more of that than almost any other feature on the face.

Can Botox Fix 11 Lines?

Yes — and it’s the treatment Botox was FDA-approved for. Botox relaxes the corrugator and procerus muscles between your brows so they can’t contract with full force. The lines soften significantly, and you lose the “resting angry face” without losing your ability to express yourself naturally. Most patients see visible improvement within 3–5 days and full results by 10–14 days.

How Many Units of Botox Do I Need for 11 Lines?

Most patients need between 20–30 units for their glabellar lines. The exact number depends on your muscle strength, how deep the lines are, and your aesthetic goals. Dr. Z will assess your specific anatomy during your consultation and provide a personalized dosing plan before treatment begins — no surprises.

Will Botox Fix Deep 11 Lines?

Botox will significantly soften even deep 11 lines by relaxing the muscle activity that creates them. For very deep lines that remain visible even when the muscle is completely at rest, Dr. Z may recommend combining Botox with a small amount of dermal filler to smooth the residual etching. She’ll evaluate this honestly at your consultation

Botox 11 Lines: Before and After

Results for 11 lines are among the most dramatic and satisfying of any Botox treatment. Within two weeks, the vertical creases soften substantially. The change to how approachable and rested you look is often noticed by friends and family before they can pinpoint what’s different.

Why Men Love 11 Lines Botox

While Botox is popular with both men and women, treating 11 lines is especially common among our male patients in Baton Rouge and Prairieville. Deep frown lines can make you look angry or unapproachable in professional settings. Softening these lines creates a more relaxed, friendly appearance.

Are You a Good Candidate for Botox?

Botox is a good fit for most healthy adults who are bothered by dynamic wrinkles — lines formed by facial muscle movement — and want natural-looking results with no downtime.

You’re Likely a Good Botox Candidate If:

  • You have 11 lines, forehead lines, or crow’s feet that bother you.
  • You want to prevent wrinkles from deepening over time (preventative Botox).
  • Your face looks tired or tense even when you’re rested and relaxed.
  • You want to refresh your appearance without surgery or significant downtime.

Botox May Not Be the Right Fit If:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have certain neuromuscular disorders.
  • Your lines are caused primarily by volume loss rather than muscle movement — in which case dermal fillers may be the better choice.

Dr. Z will assess your specific concerns at your consultation and give you an honest recommendation, including if a different treatment would serve you better.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Botox lasts approximately 3–4 months. First-time Botox patients sometimes experience a slightly shorter duration of 2–3 months as the muscles are being "trained" — with subsequent treatments typically lasting the full 3–4 months as muscle memory weakens over time. Duration varies from person to person based on metabolism, muscle activity, dosage, and lifestyle factors (e.g., exercise, sun exposure). The only way to know how long Botox lasts for you is to try it and see — but you can generally expect 3–4 months of smooth, wrinkle-free results. Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau offer comparable duration if you are curious about alternatives.

How Long Does Botox Last for 11 Lines?

For the 11 lines specifically, most patients see results lasting 3–4 months with a standard dosing range. Patients with particularly strong glabellar muscles may metabolize Botox faster — Dr. Z may recommend a slightly higher dose at your consultation to ensure full duration.

Want Results That Last Longer?

Ask Dr. Z about Daxxify — the only neuromodulator that lasts 6–9 months, available at both Z Aesthetic Dermatology locations. For patients who want fewer annual appointments without sacrificing results, Daxxify may be the right upgrade.

Baby Botox

“Baby Botox” uses lower doses to achieve a softer, more subtle result that preserves more natural movement. It’s popular with patients in their mid-to-late 20s and early 30s who want to prevent lines from forming, and with anyone who wants to look refreshed without any sign of treatment. Dr. Z will walk you through whether standard or baby Botox dosing makes more sense for your goals.

Preventative Botox

Botox is often perceived as a solution for aging skin and dynamic wrinkles for adults 40 and up. But nowadays, more younger people are using it as a preventative measure. As proactive skin care is popular, many turn to Botox to stave off aging effects before they even show. By targeting expression muscles early on, Botox can prevent dynamic wrinkles from forming due to repetitive muscle contractions.

Can You Get Botox If You’re on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Another GLP-1?

Yes — and this is one of the most common questions we hear at our Baton Rouge and Prairieville locations. Botox is safe to receive while you’re on GLP-1 medications. There are no known contraindications or dangerous interactions between Botox and semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy), tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound), or other GLP-1 receptor agonists. GLP-1 medications do not affect how Botox works or how long it lasts. The short answer: there’s no reason to pause your medication or delay your Botox appointment.

GLP-1 and Facial Volume

Patients experiencing significant weight loss on GLP-1 therapy sometimes notice changes in facial volume — commonly called “GLP-1 face.” Rapid volume loss can change how much Botox or filler is appropriate for your face at any given time. Dr. Z accounts for this in your treatment planning. If you’ve lost significant weight recently, mention it at your consultation so she can customize your plan accordingly.

Botox or Dermal Fillers: Which Do You Actually Need?

Botox and dermal fillers are both injectables, but they work in completely different ways and solve completely different problems

Botox Relaxes Muscles

Botox is the right tool for lines created by muscle movement — 11 lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet. It temporarily relaxes the targeted muscles, which softens the overlying skin. It does nothing for volume loss or static lines that remain visible when your face is completely at rest.

Dermal Fillers Restore Volume

Fillers are the right tool for nasolabial folds, hollow under-eyes, lip volume, cheek definition, and lines that remain visible even when your face is relaxed. Fillers physically add volume beneath the skin — they don’t affect muscle activity.

Which One Is Right for You?

  • Bothered by 11s or forehead lines? → Botox
  • Bothered by nasolabial folds or hollow cheeks? → Dermal fillers
  • Look tired even though you’re rested? → Often a combination of both, working together
  • Not sure? → Dr. Z will evaluate your specific concerns and give you an honest recommendation

Many patients benefit from combining Botox and fillers in the same appointment — addressing both muscle-created wrinkles and volume loss in a single visit.

Compare Botox and Dermal Fillers at Z Dermatology

Botox vs. Dysport: What’s the Difference?

Both Botox and Dysport contain botulinum toxin type A and work the same way — temporarily relaxing facial muscles to smooth wrinkles. Results are comparable when delivered by an expert injector. The differences come down to formulation, how each product spreads, and which areas each is best suited for.

When Botox Is the Better Choice

Botox is more concentrated and stays closer to the injection site. This makes it preferred for smaller, precise treatment areas — like the lip flip, bunny lines, or any area where controlled, targeted placement matters.

When Dysport Is the Better Choice

Dysport diffuses more broadly from each injection point, making it especially effective for large treatment areas like the full forehead — where even, smooth coverage across the entire muscle is the goal. Dysport also has a slightly faster onset (2–3 days vs. 3–5 days for Botox), making it popular for patients with events coming up.

Which Is Right for You?

Dr. Z offers both Botox and Dysport and will recommend the right option for your treatment areas and goals. Z Aesthetic Dermatology also offers Xeomin, Daxxify, Jeuveau, and Letybo — six FDA-approved neuromodulators total, more than most practices in the Baton Rouge area.
